Samsung M8910 Pixon 12 vs LG GC900 Viewty Smart Black: comparing two incomparable giants
The Samsung M8910 Pixon 12 is the latest addition to the range of Samsung mobile phones. A highly evolved 3G quad-band GSM touchphone, it has a large 3.1 inches AMOLED resistive touchscreen of 16M colours and weighs just 120 grams. At 102 grams, the latest LG mobile phone, LG GC900 Viewty Smart Black is slightly lighter and has a comparable 3 inches TFT resistive touchscreen. Comparatively both the devices don't differ much in dimensions as well but whereas the Pixon12 has an internal memory of just 120 MB, the LG Viewty has 1.2 GB. However the memory in both the devices are expandable by using additional microSD cards. The TouchWiz user interface in the Pixon12 appears to very user friendly and convenient to navigate but the superb S-Class touch UI in the Viewty is definitely a superior option.
Although the Pixon12 comes loaded with Class10 GPRS and EDGE which are lower than the Class12 GPRS and EDGE of the Viewty, both have similar 3G HSDPA capability @7.2 Mbps. Both the devices are Wi-Fi enabled and are equipped with Bluetooth and USB for sharing data conveniently among compatible devices. One can enjoy easy and convenient access to the Internet from both the devices with the in-built WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML web browsers. The LG GC900 Viewty Smart Black has an excellent 8MP camera with features like Schneider-Kreuznach optics, power LED flash, intelligent shot, geo-tagging, image stabilization, multi face detection (up to 3), smile detection, beauty shot and high ISO 1600 setting option. If this seems enticing enough just see for yourself what the Pixon12 has in store. The Samsung M8910 Pixon12 is perhaps the first phone with a 12MP camera available for a general world wide release. The camera is absolutely top of the line and in most cases fares even better than any dedicated digicam. The camera comes with high quality 28 mm wide angle lens and an intelligent auto-focus system. The Xenon flash ensures optimum image quality even while taking images in bad light conditions. An additional Power LED flash is also available in the device . It also has pre-fed programs and features like Tracking touch auto-focus, geo-tagging, face, smile and blink detection, wide dynamic range, Smart Auto mode, image stabilization and Beauty Shot. The Pixon12 simply is unbeatable in regard to the phone camera although both of them have similar video capabilities.
Both the devices have some common features as well, such as an in-built DivX/ XviD media player and MP3 /AAC+/WMA audio player. Document viewer (DOC, XLS, PPT, PDF), TV-out point, Organizer ,Voice memo and GPS support are also commonly available in both the units. But the Pixon12 misses the Dolby Mobile sound enhancement system that the Viewty comes along with for better sounding stereo speakers. The Pixon12 is presently available only in black colour scheme while the Viewty comes in both black and silver. The Pixon12 can be a bit more expensive to the pocket but it also delivers unbeatable performance and with a top order phone camera, people will hardly complain. While the Pixon12 is awaiting release in few places with an expected hit within this month, the LG GC900 Viewty Smart Black has been around since last May and already enjoys a huge following.
